Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" which is the highest title for a weapon and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch. Maka & Soul Eater, Black Star & Tsubaki, and Death the Kid with Patty and Liz Thompson are the characters Soul Eater revolves around. Besides taking the time to gather souls, these students of Shibusen defend Death City from some of the most powerful of creatures while still attending school and trying to become stronger.

This show really helped kick off a much larger interest in anime for myself than I had before. The biggest detractor is when it evidently splits from the manga (the series was unfinished at the time) and leads to an abrupt and somewhat unsatisfying ending, but overall remains one of my favorites. The characters are a lot of fun, and the setting itself with how the world works is quite unique. A lot of the visual settings are interesting with some excellent animation and fight scenes. I also enjoyed the themes involved and explored (friendship, forgiveness, acceptance, willpower, etc.). I highly recommend it!

When I always finish watching an anime or reading a manga, I always end up looking at two that I find interesting and I usually ask people who know about the subject to see which one is better than the other. That's how I discovered this great series, which I would say is one of the ones that has made me cry the most.

This anime is based on being a school for soul hunters. But they have "somewhat parallel" stories with each other. First there is the story of Maka and Soul,
that due to a fight between witches they were infected by black blood and from which they even managed to remove one of the slaves of the Great Witch, who was seen to have been infiltrating the institute as a nurse. Maka has a father who is the director's weapon, but he is a total degenerate who spends his time drinking and complaining because his daughter does not speak to him.
. This story for me started out being meh until the end which I really liked.

On the other hand, we have the story of Black Star and Tsubaki,
basically the rebellious guy who comes from a disbanded sect whose weapon the guy who was also from the same sect didn't know about. In fact, the fight between Tsubaki and her brother is undoubtedly among the best
; this story was a little meh.

And then we have stories that are not as relevant as the other 2. Like Death The Kid,
who is a director dad's son and fed up with what was happening to the other protagonists, he decided to sign up along with his two "twin weapons" ( one is a compulsive loli and the other... is kind of slow and rebellious, but when something important happens, the guy gets worried and focuses and behaves and in the fights he is the one I have seen fight the least in the series.
