Laid (2011) - ❤x6
So - I watched the American remake of this show first (Laid (2024)) not knowing that this one even existed. I did not like the remake.
This version is much better. Not great but definitely worth watching if you enjoy Aussie/English humour.
How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
Watched 3 episodes of the new American version and then 1.5 episodes of this one. The American version has a few strong points but generally this one is better. It's much more understated and not so loud/obvious/tacky lol. I can't deal with the plot point of
her sleeping with her best friend's man.
Funny enough though it seems more in keeping with the new version's character than this one. This main character here doesn't seem as totally self-centered and delusional so it was more disappointing that she'd do that. I personally just don't like watching shows about horrible people who hurt other people. If I wanted to see that in my free time, I'd just turn on the news. Interesting concept though. Wish I'd been able to watch the rest. ETA: Omg I just looked up the plot lines on Wikipedia to see where it goes/what I missed. I'm so glad I stopped watching early. In Season 2
she drugs someone and tries to SA them????
WTF!
Did this show get cancelled or was it really supposed to end like that?
Binged on the whole series via Netflix. Caught off guard with how good it was. Kind of like Curb but much more morbid.
