Vera

Very good from procedural/detective standpoint. A lot of times series like this go too much into interpersonal drama, but here it is murder first, investigation first. Everything else that's happening to the police unit in their daily lives is more subtle, and better for it.

Highly recommended for those who watch such shows for the puzzle part of the plot; but the cast is great, no doubt. Great show all around.

This was a favourite series of mine. I looked forward to watching it every time a season dropped (series in UK). I’m a big fan of UK Crime Dramas, not in small part to the brilliance of Ann Cleeves characters. The casting is spot on. Brenda Blethyn is an internationally awarded actor of stage and both big and small screens. In VERA, she is irresistible in her portrayal of the hat and Mac clad, Land Rover driving, sharp of eye and tongue, DCI, entrenched in the heart of Northumberland. The writing is good, but the appeal of these stories is not just the puzzle of the crime but it is also that the crime and community are complex, and the satisfaction is in watching Vera steer her team toward finding the definitive clues that lead to the villan(s). The supporting cast is second to none and make it an ensemble piece. There is so much to love about all 14 seasons of this series. I give this series a 10 (iconic) out of 10.

I absolutely LOVE this show. I'm in heaven whenever the new season starts. I hope there will be an 11th season!

It is a police procedural at it's very finest, and the setting is breathtakingly beautiful. Treat yourself to this series from the beginning. I love this show, but with a history of American shows of the same genre, I must say, the lawyers on Vera are worthless! :D Sometimes i see myself saying: "you don't have to answer that. that's circumstantial. that could be anyone... this interview is over" :D :D

I totally enjoy Vera & hope she has many more seasons to come!

Binge watched the entire series - 50 episodes - in 2023. It’s a top quality police whodunnit with superb production values and stories that range from good to superb quality. There’s not much in the way of character development or longer story arcs so when watched in bulk feels a little bit formulaic, but taken a season at a time it is one to look forward to I will continue to follow.

Season 14 will be its last, followed by a special fittingly called "Vera... Farewell Pet"

Love it! This show and CB Strike are what got me on the British/Irish/Aussie shows and I am so happy I found so many whodunits that are wonderful!
I started watching Vera in late 2022. Zoomed through the first 7 seasons/series. I will have to binge some seasons pretty soon.

Love this series. Brenda Blethyn plays the part sooooo well.
