If Stephen Colbert were to re-assume the guise of his character from _The Colbert Report_ on _Late Night_ I'd be able to take him seriously as a comedian and start watching him again.

He was SOOOOO much more effective at lampooning establishment politicians when he pretend to love them in order to highlight the ridiculousness of sycophantic worship of politicians.

However, he made a choice to become a sycophantic worshiper of politicians, therefore he can no longer be taken seriously as a comedian.
