I don't give a 10 lightly. For a TV series, even less likely, so saying this is a 10 is unusual. It's a 9.8.

Yes, there are a few slow spots and yes, the are utterly useless. These are not when they are talking, but the way the director decided to convey thoughts of each of the characters. Could this have been done better? Or left out? I prefer to say left out. I think the point was to attempt to show what they were feeling, "thinking" or perhaps to convey you never really know exactly what anyone is thinking just by looking. You can only read the feeling on their faces but to know exactly what they will do, especially more complex people, just by looking at their faces is naive.

Are you the product of your circumstances? your environment? If so at what point do you choose to be this versus that? If your environment, circumstances, were poor from a very young age, at what point do you let the anger consume you? What happens if you do?

This show was well written. I look for gaps in the story and I was a little pissed that a minor point with the daughter at the beginning wasn't focused more on (that he basically had zero value for the daughter over the son until his wife pointed it out), but by the last episode they close this loop well. I thought the best written character was Jim. By the end you realize what his real issue was/ is and how this case drudged it all up, while the script does really well to mislead you to what the real root cause was. Just spectacularly written.

The acting was superb, directing, cast, script. Generally TV shows have way more inconsistencies than movies. This delivers a story with intricacies often missed.

9.8/10.

PS. The movie quote at the end is John 3:18-20. A lot of online rubbage discussing it that never realizes it comes from the Bible.

Kinda creepy. The person who is the killer is disturbing to say the least. This one will stick with you. Gillian shines as well!!!

Series 3 airs on RTE 1 on Sunday 25/9/16 and BBC 2 on Thurs 29/9/16. Will Stella finally get her man, or will Paul Spector get away????
Been looking forward to the conclusion of this first class Police drama from BBC Northern Ireland.... Goodness knows how long before it appears on netflix.
