Princess Hours

Goong (Princess Hours) is a documentary of ascend of New Princess to Korean monarchy but it is almost a documentary of domestic abuse and relationship.

This was the most famous show during Hallyu(K)-wave and still revered as one of the classic that also inspired BOF and Playful Kiss.

Ju Ji-Hoon as another prince ; this time instead of Zombie he has to fight to keep monarchy being decent and not commit another [spoiler] incest like last generation [/spoiler]. Yoon Eun-Hye joins him as lawfully wed crown price that never matures till the end. Song Ji-Hyo probably played the most hated character and Kim Jeong ; as Prince Yul ; is another obsessive second lead ; [spoiler] that is hell bent on committing same adultery [/spoiler]

The only likeable character in the show were Grand Queen Mother , the Queen and Princess Hye-Myung ; may be Chae-Kyung family ; rest of the people have no brain or heart or both and just frustrate us to the end.

The progress of story goes like this :
1-10 : Insights into Palace ceremonies and lots of first interactions and funny scenes
11-17 : Prince Yul and Hyo-rin being possessive and annoying . [spoiler] Crown Prince finally falling for Princess[/spoiler]
18-22 : Annoying dragged push and pull and more of possessive Prince Yul. [spoiler] Nice redemption of character for Hyo-rin [/spoiler]. Miscommunication as the writers didn't want to end the show and Princess changing her mind every minute.
23-24 : Already lost all interest in climax due to earlier [spoiler] miscommunications and despositions [/spoiler]

Overall it was masterpiece for its time but after 1-1/2 decade later it has neither charm nor fashion sense nor the chemistry needed for a successful recipe ; but still as I am in mood for some good palace drama without bloodshed (courtesy Kings Affection airing right now) I like the show despite its many short comings.

The pace is unbearable and the story is quite boring and corny. I tolerate it for my dear Yoon Eun-hye~~
