Law & Order

In cases ripped from the headlines, police investigate serious and often deadly crimes, weighing the evidence and questioning the suspects until someone is taken into custody. The district attorney's office then builds a case to convict the perpetrator by proving the person guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. One of my all-time faves.

Personally, I think the Jamie Ross and Abbie Carmichael years (7-11) were the best seasons and the show arguably took off properly when the longstanding characters of Van Buren and McCoy joined the ensemble in seasons 4 and 5 respectively - but it's all great TV.

I still think it a shame _Law & Order_ was cancelled while _SVU_ rumbled on, much as I still enjoy that show but it's definitely to a lesser degree.

I marked the entire series as watched, even though I probably haven't seen all of them. Too hard to figure out which ones I've watched or not!

Excellent, wonderful production and acting. It's also great to see some guest stars before they were the "stars they became".
Never disappoints. 👍

I'm not wading through this to figure out how many hundred episodes I've seen (or if I've seen that many). My rating is suspect, based on teenaged fondness for the first 10 or so seasons.

After an extremely redemptive season, Law and Order, the original and iconic series, was cancelled.

The last season goes out with a bang, as well as a good finale and heartwarming final ending.

At least, the show, which lasted from 1990-2010, 20 seasons, was then picked up again 10 years later in a continuation. But for now, i'm going to leave it here, and give it some time before i pick it back up again, as i fully let this era of Law and Order, television, and moral lessons as a whole, sink in for me.

I've been watching this show for years now, along with the spinoffs. I can't totally put into words my whole experience with it, but i can try.

This was a truly momentous journey, as i'm sure it was for so many of those millions who watched seasons or the whole show, as well as those who, like me, watched it after it ended.

I absolutely love this show, and it has changed my life in a way. I've also made so many comments and occasional analysis on episodes, that i'm glad i was motivated enough to do so, and maybe other people will enjoy them too as they watch the show.

I went back to look at my earlier comments on the show, and i can't believe i've been watching this show for 7 years! It doesn't feel like that long, but it has been. Law and Order has been there in the transition to and through my 20s.

I have utterly loved the moral lessons this show has given me. All the writers and their beliefs and lessons and cases from the headlines, the investigations and the trials and juries and judges, it's all been a wonderful experience to see and learn from.

One of the big secrets of tv shows like this, is how important and influential they can be in your life and moral code. As we human beings try to be good people, and so in this show we are watching good people battle against bad people, but it's not really that simple, as we see so many times. Detectives who have gone through trauma, and have done good and bad things. Detectives good in their personal life and bad in their professional, or vice versa, or a mix of both, or good or bad in both, which is the same in real life. Same with the lawyers too. In this show, for so long, we see the full emulation of the complexity of life and character, of cases, suspects, killers, characters, the good and bad sides of societal systems, and justice.

We have seen so many detectives in this show, some of which we came to love. And with lawyers, of course, there were only 3 main ones, but all of them were memorable, and there were many assisants to those lawyers who were also memorable.

Though probably my favorite time was around the middle of the show, when we had our main cast for years, and it was just good season after good season consistently, as i settled in to the usual watching of a show that was melded with my life, as so many have been.

Few people are going to watch as much as i, or we, did of this show. So few are going to truly understand.

I absolutely love this show. Most episodes were good, and most seasons were good. There's been some great episodes but it was never really about the greatness of individual episodes, but rather seeing the cast and the execution of how justice would be in the episode. It's a show that's more than the sum of its parts.

Memory is a sad thing for us human beings. All the trauma and struggles we go through. So too is memory sad in regards to the good of what we watch and do in life; we forget. There are too many memories for us to consciously remember and to feel, and to distinctly remember and be lucid about everything that happened. Especially with a show like this with so many episodes that you only remember a few distinct individual stories or a few random ones out of hundreds. At least we'll remember the characters. At least we'll feel and remember the journeys. The good thing about memory is remembering the good times, and we all have plenty of those. So too in this show i had so many good times, watching these characters and stories unfold, and what i'd learn about the meaning of justice in the end. The show was consistently entertaining and consistently interesting. I loved it.

Absolutely iconic theme tune throughout all of tv.

I loved how they would change the whole intro if there was a cast member change. They kept that up for the whole show! Even in the last season, they even did it when the liutenant made the detectives shave their stubble. That's crazy! But cool.

My first exposure to law and order was in my grandparents house, watching it downstairs on tv late at night when they went to bed. The iconic sound of the hammer in the show was permanently fixed in my mind to recognize it, and you just knew you were watching law and order. I watched some various episodes at random times as an early teenager, and i think obviously at that age you don't really understand or later remember episodes, but i think even the bits i did understand then stayed with me. Seeing the investigation of the crime, and then the lawyers at the trial. It intrigued me. And then years later, i finally start watching it properly, and come to love it.

I'm going to really miss this particular show. SVU is really good as well, but i'm going to miss the cast of this, and the types of crimes too.

Man, i watched this show through so many years, through various seasons, characters, stories. I loved the various side characters, and i loved when main characters would cameo later on in the show. I freaking love this show.

At least i can always rewatch it.

I'm going to miss you completely. You are a great show, Law and Order. You will always be a part of my life, with what you've taught me, and what you've showed me, and what you've made me feel.

I think it has to be one of my favorite shows, with how much i've consumed it. It showed me so much, and gave me so many good times. I don't want to stop writing about it. But part of being a human being is that, we all have to move forward eventually. We have to grapple with life's struggles and deaths, as this show also did.

Rest in peace. At least, until i return for your continuation, and see how that goes. It won't be the same, as it will be a different era, so i'll still mourn what you were and what you meant to me.

A great show.
