Dragon Ball Super

With Majin Buu defeated half-a-year prior, peace returns to Earth, where Son Goku (now a radish farmer) and his friends now live peaceful lives. However, a new threat appears in the form of Beerus, the God of Destruction. Considered the most terrifying being in the entire universe, Beerus is eager to fight the legendary warrior seen in a prophecy foretold decades ago known as the Super Saiyan God. The series retells the events from the two Dragon Ball Z films, Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' before proceeding to an original story about the exploration of alternate universes.

If I were to rate each arc I'd give the first two arcs a 5, the 3rd arc a 6, the 4th arc an 8 and the last arc a 10. I am biased of course, dragon ball is my all-time favourite series.

The throwback in the 4th arc was nice to watch and had a lot of touching moments. I really felt moved by Trunks. The Tournament of Power arc was insane, some of the early boring fights aside.

It took some time but damn.. i really liked this one. Sure, DB and DBZ where way better, but loved this one to. Surely hope there will be more to come.

Solid series that doesn't feel super necessary but it was a lot of fun. I honestly think this is the funniest of the DB shows, for me personally, and probably the least fanservice/Roshi nonsense as well which is a plus. The animation quality started out rocky but by the end it established a distinct style that looks pretty great. The final World Tournament arc is really great, too, it makes up for some of the shows meandering early on.

Some of the greatest moments in all of Dragon Ball & some fun fanservice wrapped up in a thoroughly meh show

I wanted to finish DBS before to start of DBD. I just missed that deadline, but it was fun to revisit Kakarotto and the gang after so many years. I think I like the Future Trunks storyline the most. Beerus and Whis are fun new additions and it's just an overall good time. In true Dragon Ball fashion, the Tournament of Power is waayyy too stretched out, but even the low key frustration about it felt kind of nostalgic. I could've done with a bit less Freeza and I feel they lean into him a bit too much, until the very end, because he is the most iconic villain. Still, not a big problem for me. If I had to pick one major issue, then it would be the huge inconsistency in power levels. Maybe it never made sense, but I feel like in DBZ they at least tried to make it work. In DBS, it feels like every bit of logic about strength levels was thrown completely out.

Why Dragon Ball super sagas are that short? it seems that they are in a rush to reach the end of the series!
