Absolutely fantastic show. Incredibly underrated. I love it how consistent are its qualities. I love how every season ends well. Just an easy 10/10. Very little to complain about.

The Last Kingdom delivered an outstanding narrative of historical events, perfectly balancing epic battles with personal relationships. One of the most notable strengths of the series is the deep friendship between King Alfred and the hero Uhtred. Despite their differences in background and beliefs, they share a complex relationship built on mutual respect and shared interests, adding a powerful human dimension to the larger struggle for control of England.

Delicious historical fiction blended with non-fiction. It is a great gift to watch a show that portrays both sides of my ancestors, neck to neck, sword to axe!

The obvious comparisons with Vikings aside.
No actually, let's just make the comparisons.
Vikings in Ragnar times..a fantastic show. Losing 2 stars per season since then until the latest season.

The Last Kingdom? Yeah, it started for me as an 8* and improves season by season.

As for the characters, Aelswith irritated (bored) me even more than Jon Snow in GoT. But take a bow Eliza Butterworth, your role has grown on me to the extent that right now you are amongst the favourite characters in any show I have ever watched.
Credit to both your acting and to the script.
