Not only does this provide the most laughs out of any other show for my wife and I, but it covers current events and politics so succinctly that its the only TV news we watch (all else is read on Apple News). It's our favorite show, and one we look forward to watching together even more than 24: Legacy, Sense8, Seinfeld, or Designated Survivor! It's even better than SNL's Trump/Political Skits.

It's easiest just to catch it on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMtFAi84ehTSYSE9XoHefig) on weekdays around 8:30pm PST (or more often, anytime the next day), which makes it easy to skip over most of the interviews and musical performances and just get the comedic news, animations, and political satire.
Colbert is the only positive thing to come out of having Trump for president and the only thing that makes it just this side of bearable.

Monologue is ok and side stuff is similar to what he did with his old show which was great, solid interviews which are normally lacking in other late night shows like The Tonight Show where they just pander to the guest and don't add anything to the conversation other than prescript-ed answers.
All in all good show and here's hoping Colbert can keep this going for many years.

I watched the pilot, but Colbert just doesn't bring the humor (he never has). It felt like a waste of time, so I'll be skipping this version of the late show.

Many viewers find David Letterman's style of comedy to be more engaging and entertaining compared to Colbert's. Letterman had a unique ability to blend wit, sarcasm, and spontaneity, creating memorable moments that resonated with audiences for decades. His interviews were often characterized by a dry humor and offbeat charm, making them both insightful and amusing. Additionally, Letterman's comedic timing and delivery were widely praised, contributing to his status as a late-night legend. Overall, while Colbert has his own strengths as a host, many fans of late-night television simply prefer the comedic sensibilities of David Letterman.

This guy has no originality at all. He panders to the "Royals" and doesn't have a funny bone in his body. Should just give in and quit.

Unimpressed, worst monologue, doesn't have a funny bone in his entire life. It is so repetitive it's sickening. Even Johnny Carson dead could make better jokes.

BOYCOTT PARAMOUNT
You canceled Colbert. You chose Trump. You lose me.

You canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert—your number-one late-night program—three days after he dared to call your $16 million payoff to Donald Trump what it was:
“A big, fat bribe.”
And it was.

But your reaction? Cowardice. You didn’t refute him. You didn’t rebut. You didn’t even try to bury it quietly.
You just reached for the guillotine.

Don’t dress this up in euphemisms about ad revenue and the “evolving media landscape.” We see you.
You chose silence. You chose submission. You chose him.

And in doing so, you chose to gut your legacy.

So let me make this plain:
I will no longer watch or support any Paramount, Skydance, or ViacomCBS content.
I am DONE.

I grew up with Star Trek. I dreamed with Kirk, Picard, Janeway, Sisko (yes, him too—you couldn’t even give the first Black captain decent lighting, let alone respect). I lived in that world where humanity rose above petty tyranny and fascist doublespeak.
And now you’ve sold it.
You’ve sold Star Trek to the very forces it taught us to resist.

I will hold those captains in my heart. But I will not stream them on your coward’s platform.
You cannot launder complicity in the language of nostalgia. Not anymore.

You want to cancel the most principled voice left in late-night? You want to kneel before a man who tried to end democracy with a spray tan and a grudge?

Then know this:
You don’t get my viewership. You don’t get my money. You don’t get my silence.

BOYCOTT PARAMOUNT.
Because fascism doesn’t just arrive with a flag.
Sometimes it shows up in a suit, holding a severance package.

If Stephen Colbert were to re-assume the guise of his character from _The Colbert Report_, I'd be able to take him seriously as a comedian and start watching him again.

He'd be SOOOOO much more effective at lampooning Trump if he were to pretend to love him in order to highlight the ridiculousness of sycophantic worship of politicians.

However, he made a choice to become a sycophantic worshiper of politicians, therefore he can no longer be taken seriously as a comedian.
