Anna Macy left Kettering when she was just 14, shortly after her best friend, Gillian Baxter mysteriously disappeared. The two girls had been playing in the forbidden forests outside Kettering when they saw strange lights in the sky. Eight hours later, Anna was found alone, terrified and covered in blood. 15 years on, Anna returns to find the town struggling to survive. The forests have been marked for logging and the community is being torn apart by passionate but violent clashes between environmentalists and the local loggers.

The Kettering Incident (2016) - ❤x5

I can see why the show was canceled. There is such a thing as stringing the viewer along too long. That's what happened here. The ending of the first (and only season) should have happened mid-season, and I'm pretty sure we'd have had a 2nd season.
This is an incomplete, messy story. I would skip it.

This show tries way too hard to be atmospheric and mysterious - in the end it's just a mess of clichés, mediocre acting and unanswered plot lines and elements.
There are dialogs between characters that would never make any sense between two mentally competent adults, the pacing is really slow and there are many unnecessary scenes that go nowhere.
The ending of S1 (no info about season 2 at the time of writing this) is a huge let-down, it rushes to lazily resolve maybe 20% of the mysteries the writers came up during the previous 7 episodes.

If you like mediocre atmospheric mystery series filmed in beautiful places, even then there are much better choices: Fortitude, Trapped for example.
