Good Omens

Aziraphale, an angel, and Crowley, a demon, join forces in order to prevent Armageddon. They attempt to raise the Antichrist in a balanced and human way, but are they focusing their efforts in the right direction?

I absolutely loved the book way back when, and this adaption is on par with the book...almost perfect you might say. Stunning cinematography and brilliant acting, especially by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, make Good Omens a clear candidate for Series of the Year. Highly recommended watch!!!!
I read this book ages ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, this TV adaptation by Amazon has been just as enjoyable. I was really reassured when I saw Neil Gaiman was involved in writing this script. It more or less holds very well to the original book. The pacing feels good too, not too rushed, but it doesn't drag on either.
The casting is SPOT ON! I will admit I'm a fan of David Tennant anyway, but his portrayal of Crowley is just fantastic. All of them really fit their roles to a T.
I also appreciate the use of a narrator, I think that was a great stylistic choice. It not only helps it hold to the book more closely but is also a good way to add a little exposition where some might be needed without it feeling forced or awkward/clunky.
And of course there is plenty of the classic Terry Pratchett wit and humor to be found through out. It's quirky, but not so goodfy that it fails to take itself seriously when the situation calls for it. It's one of those shows I wish there could be more of, but all good things must come to an end, and of course being based on an existing book assures that won't happen either. ^^;
I am distraught, sobbing, screaming, crying, sliding down the walls, throwing my phone, going crazy
Okay, I saw this advertised for a while and I really didn't think I'd be that into it - just didn't seem like my thing! But I love Tennant and I had some free time so I started it and omg I had to binge watch the entire thing immediately! This is now one of my absolute favourites! I completely adore Aziraphale for a start.. and his friendship with Crowley, ah, it's so great to watch. The whole moody, dark but not-so-evil character contrasted against the soft, kind-hearted, pure character is the BEST trope and I will fight anyone that says otherwise. I really, really hope they decide to bring this show back despite it being a mini-series and there being no more source material.. as of yet!
Honestly my only downside is that
Aziraphale and Crowley didn't get together at the end! All i wanted was a hand-hold or something!!! I really felt it was building up to it the whole season.. so I hope we get another where they can explore it.
I'm really just grateful to this show because it's been a hot minute since i've been this invested in a show, fictional character or a pairing. Life got in the way. It feels great to be getting so much joy out of a show again!! And I'm now wondering why I've never taken more notice of Michael Sheen - his acting is insane!
(PLS I NEED A S2)

Edit (07/21) OH MY GOD OKAY IT'S HAPPENING EVERYBODY STAY CALM
I have't read (or knew) of Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman until just now (moment of writing this); but at every point it felt like it was written by them. From the first "narrator" quip, it had that flare. I'm saving and savoring Sir T.P books and take them slooow.
The only irk i have with the visualization is that
Death
did not have the azure spark from the deep beyond in his eye sockets.
The bike however was spot on and made me say out loud: "That cannot NOT be Death and his bike from Soul Music! "
I rly don't think this is a TV Show in the traditional sense, but more like a 5:30-ish hours long movie and i'm glad for it existing.
The best book adaptation to exist with one of the absolute best casting in the history of the world and quite possibly one of the best recent tv series of late. I thank The Almighty every day that Neil puts so much care into the adaptations of his work. It truly shows through in Good Omens
to be honest - first time saying this - better than the book.
Really loved this show! It's fun and original. I heard great things about it beforehand and my expectations where certainly met. Michael Sheen AND David Tennant are both incredible actors and they brought such a fun dynamic to their characters. Everything just worked for me. Beginning to end, great show.
I decided to watch it a second time almost a year later on lockdown. Even though I knew it already, I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time. I'm really hoping for a season 2, but only if they can be as creative as they were with the first. Just adorable. Sheen and Tennant play off each other fabulously and the secondary story lines keep it moving and engaging. Don't miss this one.
