The Conners

This iconic family—Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J.—grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America.

I love the Conners with or without Rosie. It's a true ensemble cast. Everyone's got plenty of dimensionality, plenty of screen time, plenty of pathos, plenty of story. Great show that is what it is.
I like the show more without Roseanne. Other characters have more time to breathe without a very loud Roseanne.
Pretty solid show what lives mostly on the likable characters.
Back in Lanford for the second season without the banshee. Didn’t actually think they would renew this one but am glad they did. An excellent comedy and cast.
(Upon faithfully watching until S6 E9). I’m not going to watch this series any longer. What started out as clever social commentary has lost its edge, and frankly, I’ve become bored of it. I’ve given the series a 7 (witty) in the past but now I’d only give it a 5 (meh, or mildly depressing) out of 10.
It's a fun rehash of "Rosanne" just a bit more 'woke'. It looks like everyone easily slipped right back into their old characters.
How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
Roseanne is one of my favorite comedies of its era. It's easily re-watchable and it was exciting when it came back in 2018. After they continued on after Roseanne was fired, it just wasn't as funny or entertaining as it could have been. Now that it has concluded, I can reasonably say that The Conners was just... meh. Every story was one step forward and two steps back. The ending was fine and remained true to the family it portrayed but I don't feel like we went anywhere all these years.
For a spin off of a derailed reboot, this show might have landed on its feet. It attempts to be edgy and progressive in every way possible in constant small doses. It inserts elements of the current political climate in an ironic way.
Slightly more entertaining than boring.
(edit) Show has been awhile now. I do not recommend. 4/10.
Maybe like the original Rosanne I'll come back and watch all of this but it just feels like too much liberal shit.
The mastery of the original Rosanne was it allowed all voices to be heard to understand one and another. It feels like the Conners just got to the point where it just focused entirely on the "liberal" voices (the kids and Jackie) in the original show. Dan gets out of the way, and there's no balance.
But the real problem is the show isn't funny. Rosanne Barr had a strange heart in the original show, and as much as I love Katey Segal she can't really replace Rosanne's character. Ultimately it means the Conners just kind of lingers on, and I am not really sure why. It reaches the "Simpsons" point of life around season 2-3, where people just ask themselves "Why is that still on" but it just lingers on the tv.
A shame, because the original Rosanne Show is a perfect look at the poor families that was misunderstood by many elites who never saw poverty outside of Married With Children. Now the Conners is just written by those elites who don't understand poverty and refuse to try.
Terrible show we only care about Emma Kenney huge tits!
