I'm somewhat very surprised not to a single comment on this Great T,V Show from the 90's.
I know some of you think it was Predictable, and through four not worth a watch, However, I disagree, This was a great work of Art, They actually used a Replica of a ship that once sailed the channel herself.
About the Ship TRUK
One of the ships used for the film was "The Grand Turk" which is a working replica of a 1790s man-o-war that makes yearly trips throughout Europe and winters in the city of Whitby, England. It was specially built for 'Hornblower', and painted black and buff on one side, and black and red on the other, so that it could double as a British or French ship, depending on the angle it was filmed from.

A Most enjoyable trip down Memorie lane, Great Show, and Thank You to all that Entertained us.
Thank You, I loved the Show and Still do till this day.
Amazing show. Well written. Great cast. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I started watching it after I wanted something similar to Master and Commander. And it is a great resolution for that fix.
This show also deserves the tag - competency porn. Season 1 and 2 are similar to the good episodes TNG. Pellew - Picard, Hornblower - Riker
Season 1 - it's a 10/10.
Season 2 - 10/10. Perfect depiction of aging, insecurity and the descent of a great captain to insanity.
Goes over the top but it has every right to be ambitious. The show sets up the stakes well
Season 3 - weaker than the previous seasons. Still a good outing. I'm not a fan of the Wolf character, seems like a stock antagonist.
It's a swashbuckling naval adventure that shows the reality of the harsh life of the British navy back in the Napoleon times, but it also shows the romance of those times too. That of action and adventure and naval battles, and of comraderie with your friends and crew. The sets are amazing for this older tv series, they really are. There's some good stories and characters here too, along with good music that feels right whether in battle scenes or character moments.
There is depth in this series, you see that in the character development of various characters. There's also depth in the death that happens too.
You see the journey and rise of Horatio Horblower in his naval adventures. The series is based on a set of books, and it's unfortunate the series ended when there were more books to adapt. But don't dismay, the episodes are all movie length, so there's plenty to watch, and the ending is good.
