Blade Runner: Black Lotus

So, this is definitely not animation for kids. The characters animation can be sometimes a little stiff, excepted in the fight scenes, but all is all is rather good, the decors are perfect and all the little details coming from the original movie are interesting. The script is really nice too, “blade runnery” , so to speak, kind of neo noir, though the world development is minimal, there are hints here and there of how it came to be like that, painting a subtle picture with little touches.

I binged the first 6 episodes in one session, and honestly i should have waited for the first season finale, because now I'm frustrated to have to wait for the conclusion. I certainly hope this show has a future (or at least a satisfactory end), because it's really enjoyable to watch.

🎼everybody was kung-fu fighting🎵, for no real reason or justification beyond giving the CGI GPUs a workout - adds nothing to the franchise, much like blade runner 2049. Why can't people just leave classics alone?

The show looks like they spent their money on the great looking intro, so for the rest of the show they had to stick to older console-quality CGI. Especially the character animation feels outdated and stiff, same for textures. They tried to imitate some of the iconic shots of the original with mediocre success.

Overall she show's design is an odd choice for a movie franchise that shaped the visual style of the science-fiction genre like few others and influenced generations of filmmakers.

Definitely giving me Blade Runner vibe. Scenes are unique and animation and dialogues are on the point will recommend every Blade Runner Fan.
