In socialist tv show, there's a christian extremism where in a real world you only find Islamic extremism... I wait with a lot of impatience a season 3 in Mecca, with sex and homosexuality ....

Good, but not great, and definitely not like The Young Pope. I was really hoping this would be like a 2nd season to TYP, but it's not. John Malkovich is perfect for his role, but his role is so depressing throughout the series. It's simply not entertaining to watch in my opinion. The character development is disappointing. Sofia Dubois is suddenly a short haired slut instead of the fascinated and supporting PR advisor of the Pope. Voiello is made weak instead of the intelligent and conniving secretary of state he was in TYP. Gutierrez has no purpose really, unlike in TYP. Oh and Esther is suddenly a slut as well,
and a murderer
.

Then comes the storyline. It's not interesting. Nothing fascinating in happening. In TYP we had Lenny's quest to find his real parents, his complicated relationship with Cardinal Spencer, his loving relationship with Sister Mary, and then Dussolier with his 'colorful' lifestyle. Each character was interesting and had a good backstory.

More lacking from this show is Lenny himself (until the end), him having to outsmart basically everyone around him (and succeeding), and just sidestories like Gutierrez' adventure in the US, Lenny's trip to Africa and the miracles he seems to be able to perform.

All of this is what made TYP so awesome, and it was all missing from TNP. It simply wasn't interesting anymore.

I hope there will be a new season, and that it will be better.

As usual, weird ending. However, this season was everything, from the story, music, depth of the characters and THAT speech by John Paul III. It made me for a second wanna become a theist. Great work. Another good addition to the great shows of HBO. Also, Good Time Girl by Sofi Tukker is great even without the sexy nuns dancing.

The first episode was more gripping than a single episode in The Young Pope would have been, then it stagnated, then I fell in love with Brennox, then came the last two episodes and I lived and I died, while I was still sceptical of the show after the 1st season, these last two episodes really made me appreciate the whole of it, I wish it would've pulled me in earlier in the season.
Overall, if you didn't _hate_ The Young Pope, you should watch it
