If last season's theme was revenge, this season's is clearly acceptance. Not only of ourselves but also of the world around us.
Vinland Saga is a great anime, and I think the themes it deals with are extremely important.
Violence is not and should never be the answer.
Thank you Vinland Saga and especially to this masterful season for making us understand that.
Peak land saga , anime of the year contender
Vinland Saga season 2 has such amazing writing and animation. The chemistry between Thorfinn and Einar is so good, the development of characters and set up for the future of Vinland Saga is incredible. And my god, the animation is incredible. While I hate the workplace abuse in Mappa, nothing changes how talented their animators are.
Not everyone will like this season and will be very disappointed bc they get used that this anime is just about fights, war and blood, and they will be angry that this season hasn't that stuff, but for real if u give a chance to enjoy the drawing, soundtrack, and the most important thing is the talks between the characters, it's masterpiece
it's so deep and so strong for the person who is focus with the talks of any anime or series in general!
so yah
this season has a lot of great talks and messages and u can rethink about many thing's while watching it
u just watched someone turned from the hell to the right way( yah maybe it's appear like he is so silly and weak ) but no, he is fighting his past as much he can, so I'm proud of this anime character.
anyway
i liked this season so much
and can't wait for the new one.
This season added a lot of weight to the first, elevating the entire show as a result. I can't wait to see where Thorfinn takes this story next.
Compared to the first season, it had a much heavier, slower, harsher, and more tragic story.
The general farm setting, agriculture, casual conversations, and the slave topics bored me at a certain point. I struggled through the first 9-10 episodes; they were quite tedious. However, it picked up later on. The psychological development of the characters was handled beautifully. Thorfinn's arc was completed perfectly. Despite Einar being somewhat naive and foolish, I liked him a lot; he was an entertaining character. Overall, I liked most of the new characters. Canute's portrayal was a bit odd. They seemed to suggest that he had become corrupted over the past four years, but then it appeared that he hadn't actually been corrupted. Thorfinn convincing Canute didn't satisfy me at all. The ending was very sweet and wholesome; it was quite emotional. I also enjoyed how Thorfinn influenced the other characters throughout the entire season. Thorfinn's character development was handled exceptionally well; it never felt half-baked. There were quite a few disturbingly tragic scenes. This season was much more ruthless than the first. The way it ended made all the storylines feel complete. Honestly, if there's going to be a season where we watch them build a life in Vinland, it would be better to end it here.
7.5/10
Flawed but still good. Needed to be exactly half the episodes.
An interesting season and a different series
I feel like this series is the antithesis of a battle shounen😂. But, jokes aside, it is an interesting proposal and an audacious project. Where do I start? We are talking about a historical and Icelandic narrative from the point of view of an Easterner.
The story is planned to tell the adventures of the navigator Thorfinn who is said to have known Vinland - supposedly the American continent. This story is not very famous and shows a certain opportunism on the part of the author as it opens up space for fiction, science and history.
The first season was all action and violence with a historical perspective. This second season completely changed gears by going headfirst into a guilt-heavy drama. The idea works to a certain level, however any historical context serves as a tool and not as a coordinate. King Canut's story is very good and his involvement with Thorfin is somewhat believable, but too strong. The character literally resembles deus ex-machina.
Another thing, this change of direction is as strong as a Sopranos cut. So it's more than understandable and justifiable for people not to like it.
Furthermore, it is necessary to think about the long term and see to what extent this pacifist approach can be sustained. After all, we are talking about Vikings who come into conflict with Indians.
For the rest, I only praise. The production, direction, sound, storyboard and lighting (did I forget anything else?) is exceptional. The direction manages to organize tension and drama in a timely manner, creating impactful and convincing scenes. It is because of these qualities that everyone should watch this series. Congratulations to the team for their work and I hope they continue with the quality of their work.
As for the rest, it's up to you. I know it bothers a lot of people and I understand, but the work takes effort and I respect the dedication.
Either this will be long anime like naruto and we are living the filler episodes or they fucked up with the second season.
I don't care if this season they changed the pace to follow the manga. Bad is bad. Is just very disappointing to ruin the anime after that amazing first season
