_The Ghost and Molly McGee_ can't really compete with the rest of the serialized Disney TVA lineup, but I think it stands well on its own. I'd personally call it a comfort show, with its wacky cast of characters, musical numbers that mostly hit, and comedy that isn't afraid to go bizarre and dark for the subjects of life and death. If it weren't for Ashly Burch and Dana Snyder leading the cast though, I probably would've never given this one a shot. I'm glad I did, because Molly and Scratch absolutely carry the show on their backs with their energetic (and sometimes emotional) performances. I haven't laughed this hard at a cartoon in many years. There's some surprisingly funny bits here.

Unfortunately, its length of only two seasons noticeably impacts what the writers could've done with the plot as a whole. It's a shame that all of these characters are fun, yet only a few of them get proper development over time. And for a show that focuses about a third of its time on the ghost world and all the supernatural elements built, it doesn't have any time to fully flesh things out, making the conclusion to it all feel abrupt.

If they really do decide to revisit this series in the future though, I personally wouldn't have high hopes for it without Ashly and Dana together again. They're the real reason to watch this, and they make one hell of a pair.

P.S. This show also has the best Jewish representation I've ever seen in a modern cartoon, which is awesome.

A promising show that frustratingly fails to raise the bar. Fun vibe and characters, but no deeper story or character arcs, and a very weak duo dynamic, as well as questionable motives from the lead Molly.
